Wedding Gift Musings

This year has been really slow as far as wedding goes. In the past 2-3 years we have been pretty booked- weddings all the time and all over the place. Then all of a sudden- no more.

Well, looks like things are picking up a little bit. I've gotten 4 invitations in the past two weeks. Not all to weddings. 3 for weddings and one for a bacherlorette girls-weekend. Two of the weddings are on November 5- so we'll only be attending one. The other wedding is on the same weekend as the bachelorette weekend. So ya. Busy weekend that will be.

All that being said...I now need to purchase a number of gifts. Lucky for me I LOVE buying gifts for people- as long as it's people I know. I'm pretty jazzed to get my next paycheck and start shopping.

Actually, the only person I am not good at buying gifts for is P. I always just have to ask him what he wants. =/

Well, I better get in bed. Tomorrow is a sorta big day at work tomorrow. I'll tell you about that later though.

Festive Musings

A picture from last year's Riverfest, I didn't take any this year.

One of the top reasons that I love Georgia this time of year is that there are a multitude of fall festivals. Today I kicked off the 2011 tour d'festivals Riverfest. Riverfest is held right here in my home-county, and is an awesome arts and crafts festival. I found a lot of really awesome stuff- even though I didn't buy ANY of it. Haha. I don't have much spending money saved up yet. Among my fines were: several vendors who do homemade Jellies/Jams, a great apiary for honey (yay!), and an amazing artist who does sketches of local landmarks.

I am definitely interested in using local vendors for my wedding related purchases- and it's never too early to do research.

The artist is Chris McLaughlin. And I just love his work. I am planning to purchase a few pieces from him as holiday gifts, and I even have a special plan for incorporating his work into our wedding. But I'll give more details on that after the 1 year mark. Really, I am planning a lot of great wedding posts after 10/13/2010.

I hate that I didn't buy much today, but I also know I'll be seeing a lot of these same visitors at the other festivals I'm going to this year.

Next weekend is the next closest festival- the Marble Festival in Jasper. The weekend after that is my FAVORITE festival- the Apple Festival. And there are so many more- seriously- the calendar I am looking at has 390 events in the next 4 months.

Do you have any good festivals where you live?

Fill in the Blank Friday

I missed last week's fill in the blank Friday. But I'm back!

1.   The best thing I did all week was   manage to stick to my diet!

2.    Riverfest (a local fall festival) being this weekend  make me super happy.

3.  Pets are   100% necessary for my life.

4.    Not being in law school and finally working somewhere I enjoy  is the best thing about my life.

5.  With the cooler weather I am looking forward to    making lots of soups/stews and buying some fabulous boots.

6.  Something that's on my "wish list" right now is     a trip to my favorite spa.

7.  This weekend I am going to    _go to Riverfest! and scout for some local wedding vendors.

Well there ya go. I tell you what, it's so nice to actually be looking forward to the weekends again. The week just blurred together when I wasn't working. I finished my second week of training today. Monday I start actually working- all of my work will be reviewed, but I'm pretty much done with training. Yay!

Oh How Pinteresting

This is my first Oh How Pinteresting Wednesday, so I'm gonna keep it short and sweet.

This is what we had for dinner tonight...I didn't have any turkey thawed, so we used ground beef. I had mine with pasta while P went the sub route...both were very good.

I know I haven't posted in a few days.It is a lot harder to post now that I am working. I've got to work on that, maybe schedule some posts ahead of time.

Work is still going really great. I don't really have any complaints. Life is good.
